Day 30: Thursday, April 4, 2019
This is what the Lord says—
he who made a way through the sea,
a path through the mighty waters,
17 who drew out the chariots and horses,
the army and reinforcements together,
and they lay there, never to rise again,
extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:
18 “Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
20 The wild animals honor me,
the jackals and the owls,
because I provide water in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
21 the people I formed for myself
that they may proclaim my praise.
The wilderness and the wasteland are real. There is no denial of that. We’re not painting over them with empty optimism. We’re not smiling away the struggle. If I fake it ‘til I make it, I’m still fake.
A new thing begins with old things passing away. A way is made where there was no way. Streams come from His hand where there were no streams and where there was no water. He gives life, love and light to places that we cannot.
We must let go of old things to receive the new thing. We must let go of the ways that we see and dwell on what was so we can perceive what can be. Lead us to water, Lord, and teach us to praise.
