February 1, 2016

I made it a whole month, writing something everyday and I managed to avoid the temptation to enter the word “Something.” and call it a day.

It’s been an interesting journey, to say the least. There have been evening where I’m ready to crawl into bed and I realize I haven’t written yet. So I trudge off to find my computer, which is probably not as charged as I need it to be and so I trudge off again to find a charger, before finally settling in to a comfortable spot on the pillows and instead of closing my eyes, I’m opening a laptop.

Other days, I sit down and write down a few ideas that I will come back to over the next few days and it’s easy.

Some days, I want to come up with just the right words. I strive to find THE idea that centralized my day, or some conversation I had, or something I read… and I write away, finding those words quickly and easily. I have the same desire on other days and attempt after attempt are empty, unfelt, unmeant or distant. On those days, I go through my collections of quotes, or I pick up a book I’m reading and eventually, I find the words that are best and they are not my own.

I’m grateful for those of you following this journey, along with me for the ups and the downs. I’m grateful for the conversations it has sparked. I’m grateful for those who have sent messages of dissent or disagreement, it is good for me to be spurred on in my thinking.

Here’s to month two, friends, may it be as much a blessing to you as you are to me.
